COPPER IUD SIDE EFFECTS

COPPER IUD SIDE EFFECTS

Today’s video is an update on my copper IUD experience. I’m talking through all my side effects, from heavy periods to unexplained bleeding. Not sure what the next step is for me, potentially having this removed? I’ve now had the copper IUD in for over 2 years, so I’ll be sharing my full experience.

Check out my first video talking about my copper IUD experience:

  1. SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME
! I WAS BLEEDING/SPOTTING FOR A WHOLE MONTH GOT TIRED OF BLEEDING. WENT TO PLANNED PARENTHOOD AND THEY DID AN ULTRASOUND AND MY IUD HAD DISPLACED ALL THE WAY DOWN TO MG UTERUS I GOT OT REMOVED AND STOPPED BLEEDING THE SAME DAY AND WHEN BACK ON MY BC PILLS.

  2. This is funny! I have never had acne when i was younger and when I was 19 I got the Copper IUD and it made me crazy and I couldn't live with it, Once i got it removed I got cystic acne all over my face and haven't been able to get rid of this acne since ( its been three years now) and I have worked out its all because of the IUD, would recommended to never go on this is a horrible option and causes the worst hormonal imbalances!!!.

  3. Had my copper iud fitted the 5th July, bled until approx 12th July.. then nothing.. then period Tuesday 16th July. My usual cycle is 5 days.. but this bleeding is rediculous.. heavy light heavy light. No way I can track when my period will end. Fed up!

  4. I had the cupper UT380 type (the one with the slightly arched arms) inserted last week. I had never gone under such pain to be honest, I CRIED. (I'm actually scared about my first period in a few weeks, please send hugs!). After I understood that I had a foreign object inside my *tissues*, and that the cervix is not just a cavity like in the drawings, but a tissue, I've been panicking about perforations, for example… is it possible to make exercise safely? I feel like I just can't live in fear. Also, what about the sexy positions? I've wondered, is it possible to, you know, m o v e? My god, I never considered this would be a side effect. I want to give it a chance, but something in my mind says it's just not alright.

Today it hurts weird, like something pinching. I observed that, especially when I am seated with my pelvis forward, like in a C shape. Maybe be the position of the uterus…-it's not letting me concentrate :c . I've been panicking that I have another type of perforation and I made a small research about that: found that t is actually possible. That has definitively put me on severe anxiety, careproviders should be considering this as a side effect :'(
I will be on revision over the next days, hoping everything is all right, and if it is bearable, I think I'l have it removed after a try on the pills: I've been told there are a few more options nowadays…

  5. I have to get this Iud taken out. I always had bad periods, I had two miscarriages so i was put under and they gave me a copper IUD I had no idea it would feel this way. I have painful cramps usually on the 3rd day it's agony. I take iron, and magnesium and it does nothing cause I'm bleeding so much that I feel lightheaded, weight gain and anxiety. The bleeding lasts over 10 days, the most was 16 days and last month it started 2 weeks earlier and days after I finish I start spotting and cramp. I absolutely hate it. we shouldn't be going through all this!

  6. I have a similar experience as you. I have the copper iud and my cramps have worsened compared to before the iud whereas my flow has stayed the same. The last 2 cycles for me have been the normal flow but then I have the brown or old blood for 3-4 days after the normal 5 day cycle. I think your body is just figuring itself out. You have to keep in mind the copper iud is a foreign object and your cycle won’t be the same as before. Even with the pill my body went through changes- I didn’t have a period for 2 years but this happened gradually

  7. It definitely took longer than I thought for my copper IUD to settle (2 years). I have had it for a little over 3 years now. Intense cramping during my period persisted for about a year.. maybe longer, and I went through the same thing you described, having a normal period, seeing signs of it ending, going a day or two without any period and then another start up, but this would probably only last another 1-3 more days. Later on, I went through a stage of VERY heavy flow lasting 10 days sometimes. It was quite worrisome after a while, so I started using the tracking app Clue and was considering having it removed. Ironically my cycle went normal my second month into using the app. It is consistently 5 consecutive days with only 1 heavy flow now and has stayed pretty close to this for a little over a year. I wish I thought to track better throughout the earlier stages so my experience could be more helpful. It would be interesting to see if there are similar cases to other people with a copper IUD. I had never thought the (semi-) 'double period' side effect was something other people with copper IUDs were experiencing. Thanks for sharing!

Since this was posted end of last year.. have you had any changes?

  8. I had my copper IUD fitted 4 months after the birth of my daughter last year and I’ve had it for 9 months now and I’m suddenly experiencing awful cramps towards the end of my period and sometimes randomly throughout the month! I’ve never really suffered from period pains before but these feel almost like early labour contractions to me! I’m confused as to why it would be happening so many months after having it fitted and I’m now convincing myself I have something awful wrong with me! My nurse thinks it’s coil related but I’m waiting for a scan currently to tell me more… I’m praying it is just the coil and nothing more!

  9. Alot of your symptoms sounds more like your body going into its natural cycle. I had alot of that happen when I went off hormonal bc. I didn't get the copper IUD until this month so I really cant say for sure. And CBD helps the best for cramps and bloating

  10. Rutin is a natural birth control that gets rid of unwanted pregnancy and it’s used as a birth control. No side effects and it get rid of hemmeroids

  11. It hasn’t even been a month since I have gotten the iud inserted. Currently, I have cramps on and off and when I do cramp, it is INTENSE. Tylenol and Advil is starting not to work. 😞 hopefully it will not be like this forever!
