  1. Yellow bottle HEET for alcohol stoves. I also got an Ozark Trail Down sleeping back a while back but don't think they make that one anymore.

  2. And don’t forget 2nd hand stores and FB Marketplace. People buy hella expensive outdoor gear then never use it. They may not even know what excellent brands the stuff is. I lived in a big military town and found MANY treasures via thrifting. Military families move every 3yrs on average. They dump a lot of good stuff!

  3. Base layers are vital. They can get expensive. So, if CuddleDuds work for you, & you find them at a good price, GO FOR IT !!! My first set of base layers were purple. Anyone who would mock your gear isn’t a true friend 🤣

  4. Between the video and the comments, this is a goldmine of useful info. Especially for someone who is just starting out and is on a budget. Thanks for all of it.

  5. I always carry a blue walmart tarp for my groundcloth. It's kinda heavy but it's cheap and no holes ever. It's only 5×6 I'm short

  6. Cuddle duds are amazing. I don’t care that I’m a man wearing women’s pants… they rock. Got 2 pairs for $5 each on clearance in beginning of March.

  7. if you don't want to buy a roll of reflectix to make pot/cup cozies. Walmart can typically buy a car sun reflector that is same or similar material fairly cheap. heat retention for making a simple cozy really is impressive. might be worth looking into

  8. What? No $14 sporks at Wal·Mart? No wonder the ego-trekker tourists don't shop there.

Personally, I like the three pack of colored stuff sacks for $5. Compare to $25 or more for a single one at the "outdoor" store.
