It could be a city getaway or a campsite, but the Osprey Farpoint 40 Pack is bound to be an essential for any weekend warrior. It has a stowable suspension system that you can deploy if you want to wear the Farpoint like a backpack or carry it around as luggage. Osprey made the shoulder straps and back panel out of spacer mesh for cush and ventilation, and there’s a webbing waist belt for added support. StraightJacket compression straps secure the luggage inside.

  1. I couldn’t go for this bag with the lack of organization, and with the laptop storage being on the outside of the bag. Doesn’t make any sense.

The REI Ruckpack 40 is also a bag that I considered but it had a major design flaw in my opinion with the bottom of the bag being too slanted to be able to set the bag down even when it’s packed. Super annoying problem with an otherwise great bag.

  2. Great review as always Chase, I have had this bag for a couple years now and it has been a good bag, looks the same as the day I brought it home. I normally travel with a personal item (25l everyday backpack) and this carry-on I use the shoulder strap, not the backpack carry. I was super close to upgrading/changing to the PD travel backpack, but at this point I can’t justify it. I do love how they share nearly the same dimensions for packing out though and will be switching to PD Packing cube system.

  3. It’s called the FARpoint NOT FAIRpoint lol
Anyway, the FARpoint s/m 55 is better because you get a15 liter daypack. Without the day pack or with and/or without the daypack and some lite or creative packing both are airliner compatible
